Frequently Asked Questions

High Tech High Foundation is an all-volunteer non-profit 501(c)(3) organization made up of parents of current and graduated students, as well as community members who believe in project-based learning and want to help us achieve educational greatness. 

Both public and charter schools receive public funding in order to provide basic education. An enriched education, with funding for all the “extras” (including robotics, athletics, college field trips, and many many other needs) that make High Tech High such a special place, can only happen when the community contributes. We welcome family donations, community fundraisers, grants, employer matching, and gifts from corporate partners.

The Foundation’s funds are 100% separate from those of the school and are managed by our Board treasurer. Every donated dollar with a designation is carefully tracked and can only be used for the intended school, program, or team. Donations with unspecified designations go into our general fund.

To give to a specific school or sport, visit the Ways to Give page on this website. You may also give by check: enclose a note with your designation and your family’s name, make it out to “High Tech High Foundation,” and mail it to HTH Foundation, P.O. Box 371094, San Diego CA 92137.

The PAs are part of the Foundation, and they share one tax ID number: 33-0866869. Donations to the Foundation (and to the PAs) are tax deductible. Each school's PA raises money for school-specific enhancements, while the Foundation is the umbrella for the PAs and additionally fundraises for larger needs and for causes that benefit all 16 schools equitably.
